New Faculty Benefits Orientation

Most new medical center faculty will attend New Clinician Orientation, offered through VMG Training & Organizational Development. To learn more about New Clinician Orientation, see a schedule of available dates, or to register, click here or email Included in this orientation is an overview of the benefits offered at VUMC. Your hiring department should explain information on leaves of absence, moving expenses and other benefits including time off. You may also refer to the Faculty Manual for more information.

New medical center faculty that do not need to attend the full 2-day New Clinician Orientation may register to attend just the benefits portion of New Clinician Orientation. Please complete the registration form to request a seat at one of these sessions (seating is limited). For a schedule of available sessions, please visit the New Clinician Orientation website. The benefits portion takes place on the first day of orientation from 1 p.m. to 2 pm. You will receive an email confirming your reservation. Keep in mind that you have 30 days from your appointment date to make your benefit elections.

If you have a faculty appointment, but have not yet begun work at VUMC, you may still attend a session. That is, you do not have to wait until after your appointment date to request to attend one of the sessions. Please complete the registration form and a representative will contact you.

If you are changing from a benefits-eligible staff or house staff position to a benefits-eligible faculty position at VUMC, the benefits you are enrolled in will continue. A change in position does not enable you to make changes to your benefits elections; therefore you do not need to attend the benefits orientation. Please refer to the Faculty Manual for more information.
