Go for the Gold Platinum Benefit FAQ

Who is eligible for this benefit?

Any employee who meets the following requirements is eligible:

• Earned the Gold level of Go for the Gold by Oct. 31, 2017.

• Pay for Vanderbilt Health Plan benefits in 2018.

• Join VRWC or be an existing member. Membership rate is $135 quarterly ($45 per    month) as of Sept. 28, 2017.

• Attend the VRWC at least 30 days per quarter.


How do I enroll in this benefit?

If you completed the HealthPlus Go for the Gold gold status by October 31, 2017, you are eligible for this benefit. No additional enrollment is necessary.

I am a new employee – hired after Oct. 31, 2017 – can I still qualify for the benefit for 2018?

No. You must have earned Go for the Gold status by Oct. 31, 2017 to receive the benefit for 2018. If you earn Go for the Gold status by Oct. 31, 2018, you will be eligible to receive the benefit for 2019.


Do I need to sign up for a membership to the VRWC to take advantage of the reimbursement?

Yes, you must currently have a membership or sign up for a membership to receive the benefit.

Does this replace my health fund account?

No, this is a separate benefit for HealthPlus Go for the Gold gold status holders.


Are there restrictions on the hours I can visit the VRWC?

No, you can visit the VRWC during any open hours.


If I join the YMCA or another fitness club/center, can I be reimbursed for my membership fees?

No. This benefit only applies to members of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.


Both my spouse and I work for VUMC and are members of the VRWC. Can we receive reimbursements for both our memberships?

No, only the employee who is the named subscriber to the VUMC health plan is eligible for membership fee reimbursement.


Say I completed Gold level of GFTG and I’m enrolled in 2018 health plan. I join the VRWC in March (pay $45) and attend every day in March meeting the 30 days per quarter. Would I get the $90 even though I only join for March?

You would only receive the reimbursement for the 1 month that you joined.


Is there a way for me to check my attendance each month or quarter?

There is no way for an individual employee to check attendance and due to the volume it isn’t something that HR will supply to employees. If they have questions about attendance or a dispute, they can contact

Your attendance will be recorded by swiping your VUMC badge each time you visit the center.
