The Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (VHAN) is the largest provider-organized network of doctors, regional health systems and other health care providers in Tennessee and seven surrounding states. Network providers actively collaborate to provide patients with high-quality, efficiently coordinated and cost-effective health care services.

VHAN is the foundation of all health plan options offered to Vanderbilt University Medical Center employees. VHAN improves access to health care services and gives health plan members the convenience of receiving services closer to home at the highest benefit level. How to Find a Provider

Aetna has a directory for VUMC employees to find providers in the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (Tier 1 coverage) and the Aetna National Network, also called the Aetna POS II network (Tier 2 coverage). Here's how it works:

  1. Go to the Aetna DocFind website.
  2. Use the text box to enter your search criteria or use the links on the page for common searches by specialty, conditions, or procedure.
  3. A pop-up box will ask you to select the network you would like to search.
    • Select Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network Providers for ONLY Tier 1 providers for the greatest plan savings. Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG) providers will be in Tier 1 network plus Affiliated providers.
  4. Review your search results. To filter your search further, use the tools in the left menu under "Narrow your results."
