VUMC Culture Survey

Culture Survey Logo

In a few weeks, you will be asked to participate in the VUMC Culture Survey. The survey will take place May 1-15, 2018. This year, the survey will be comprised of three surveys — the nursing survey, safety survey, and the employee engagement survey.

On May 1, you will receive an email invitation to participate in the survey. The email will be sent to your VUMC email address. It will come from VUMC Culture Survey (noreply@surveys.pressganey.com ) with the subject line:  Your Voice, Your VUMC — Take the VUMC Culture Survey Today. Press Ganey is the company helping us administer the survey and tabulate the results. No one at Vanderbilt will have access to the list of survey codes, so the results remain confidential. Press Ganey is an independent vendor VUMC has hired to conduct the survey to ensure responses remain confidential. Data will only be reported back to VUMC in group aggregate format.

Each staff member will receive a personalized email with a unique link to the survey. To participate, you must use the email sent to you. You cannot use another employee’s email to take the survey. Only employees hired before March 1, 2018 are invited to participate.

The survey is your opportunity to tell us what VUMC is doing right and what we could do better. Last year, our participation rate was nearly 80 percent. This year, we are aiming for an 85 percent participation rate. The survey is not mandatory, but we hope you will take this opportunity to have your voice heard. The more voices in the conversation, the better the results. All survey responses are confidential.

Your role at VUMC determines which of the three parts of the survey you will complete. The survey has 3 sections, so it may take up to 45 minutes to complete for our nursing staff who will take all three parts of the survey. Employees who take both the engagement and safety sections of the survey should expect to spend about 20 minutes completing both sections.

New this year

  • The engagement section will also measure resilience, or the ability of employees to remain engaged even in challenging work environments and the ability to disconnect and “recharge” outside of work.
  •  For the first time, all employees will be invited to provide feedback on the group of questions included in our safety survey because a culture of safety empowers VUMC faculty and staff to offer care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered. The safety section of the survey will feature questions that focus on how we can provide the safest and highest quality of care for our patients.

If you are unable to complete the survey at one time, the system automatically saves responses and allows you to come back later to complete the survey.

You can take the survey on a computer, tablet or mobile device. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can take the survey at the Employee Service Center, on the second floor of 2525 West End Ave, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Please complete the survey by 11:59 p.m. CST, Tuesday, May 15.

Join us in building a stronger and better VUMC.
