There is still time to spend FSA dollars

You may have seen or heard advertisements lately urging you to spend your remaining flexible spending account funds before Dec. 31. We want to remind you that the deadline to incur a claim toward your 2017 flexible spending account is March 15, 2018. For a list of FSA eligible items, visit the IRS website.

 FSAs are a use-it-or-lose-it benefit. According to IRS rules, you must submit all claims for 2017 eligible expenses by April 15, 2018, or lose funds remaining in your 2017 FSA. Eligible expenses for 2017 include products, services and treatments received between January 1, 2017, and March 15, 2018.

You can check the balance in your 2017 FSA by logging in to My VUMC Benefits and clicking on the link for ‘View My Reimbursement Account’ under the Reimbursement Accounts section on the welcome page. You can also call 877.837.5017.

To submit a claim, you can either:

  • Submit online. Submit a Reimbursement Request Form by logging in to My VUMC Benefits and clicking on the ‘View My Reimbursement Account’ link
  • Submit by email. Email a Reimbursement Request Form, with receipts, to help@mybenefitexpress.com.
  • Submit by fax. Fax your receipts to 253.793.3766.
