Key dates to know for end of FY17 flexPTO

The flexPTO (flexible paid time off) program gives staff an allotment of time at the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1) — or beginning of the quarter if they start employment throughout the year — to cover hours when they are out of the office due to illness, vacation, holidays or personal business.  Normally, the allotment of time must be used by June 30 or it is forfeited. This applies to all employees, regardless of hire date.

At the end of fiscal year 2017, staff are allowed again to transfer up to 40 hours of unused flexPTO into their grandfathered sick bank. These hours can then be used for the same reasons as other grandfathered sick time. Staff do not need to take any action; the hours will be in a grandfather sick plan by the end of July. You will forfeit any unused flexPTO hours above 40 hours.

As fiscal year 2017 comes to a close, here are important dates to know regarding your flexPTO allotments:

FY17 flexPTO

  • You have until June 30 to use FY17 flexPTO allotments.
  • Because the bi-weekly pay period closes on June 24, there will be a lag until non-exempt staff see PTO time taken June 25-30.  The hours will be recorded as taken on your July 14 paystub, as well as an adjustment adding hours back to your FY18 allotments.
  • Exempt staff will report June time off by June 30.  You will see June hours deducted and an adjustment adding hours back to your FY18 allotments on your Aug. 1 paystub.
  • Anyone with remaining FY17 flexPTO hours will have up to 40 hours transferred to a grandfathered sick bank. These hours will be viewable in time off balances in C2HR by July 31.

FY18 flexPTO

  • FY18 flexPTO allotments are available on July 1, and must be used by June 30, 2018.
  • You should be able to see your FY18 flexPTO hours in C2HR on July 1.
