Open Enrollment ends Friday, Oct. 20

reminder to enroll

Open Enrollment for 2018 benefits ends at 11:59 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 20. While Open Enrollment is passive this year — meaning the benefits you elected in 2017 will automatically roll over to 2018 — we recommend you take this time to review your elections and make any necessary changes.

  • Review your health, dental and vision elections to ensure they meet the needs of you and your family. You can make changes by logging in to My VUMC Benefits. Just a reminder: we are offering a new, third dental plan for 2018. You can find more information about the dental plans at
  • Flexible spending accounts will not roll over. If you want to contribute to a health care or dependent day care flexible spending account in 2018, you will need to enroll during Open Enrollment.
  • Open Enrollment is also a good time to review your list of dependents and beneficiaries. During Open Enrollment, you can add or remove dependents (for your health, dental and vision plans) and beneficiaries (for life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment insurance).
  • As you may know, enhanced short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance are “anytime” benefits, meaning you can change them outside of the Open Enrollment period.

Making changes is quick and easy. Simply visit and click the green “Enroll Now” button. The Open Enrollment website also features a Detailed Guide with rate information, tools designed to help you make the right decisions, FAQs, an enrollment video tutorial and more.
