Vanderbilt University Medical Center TempForce (TempForce) is our internal staffing agency within Human Resources. TempForceprovides support to all departments across the Medical Center for a wide variety of positions.

Our placements include but are not limited to Office & Administrative Support, Service Trades (Nutrition Services, Central Supply, Plant and Environmental Services), Pharmacy Technicians, Medical Assistants, Finance and Accounting support, Information Technology, Radiology Technicians, Echo Technicians, and Patient Service Representatives.

As part of its commitment to service delivery and order fulfillment, TempForce also utilizes external staffing and recruitment firms to assist with your most difficult or specialized staffing needs. Our dedicated external staffing vendors work in conjunction with TempForce and the talent operations team. 

TempForce is dedicated to providing you with the best temporary employees possible. All our employees have been thoroughly screened. This process includes a face-to-face interviews, reference checks, skills testing (when applicable), and background checks.

How to Request a Temporary Employee

Contact TempForce as soon as you know that you will need a temporary employee. While we do our best to maintain pools of available temporary employees, we want to ensure we send you the most qualified temporary employee for your unique assignment. If necessary, we will find someone with the specialized skills necessary for success in your department. Please be advised that should a recruitment process be required for specialized staffing support, turnaround times may be longer.

Complete an online assignment request form through TalentCentral.

To get started today, you will need to complete an online assignment request form through TalentCentral. You will receive a confirmation email followed by a phone call from a TempForce representative assigned to your request. It is important to communicate with the TempForce staff exactly what you need to accomplish and what skills a temporary employee will need to perform successfully in your department.

Quality

In order to monitor and maintain high levels of customer service, TempForce regularly requests feedback from yous. Please complete the performance evaluation form you will receive from us. Together, we can continue to bring high performing employees to work with us here at the Medical Center.

Employees are rated on nine work related criteria, including communication, quality of work and quantity of work. TempForce staff are rated on responsiveness, ability to match temporary employees with required skills for the job and how well we have met your overall needs.

We use this information to evaluate the effectiveness of our screening and matching process. In addition, many TempForce employees work on multiple assignments. Performance evaluations provide vital information that assists us in providing the highest quality temporary service to the VUMC community.

How to Hire a Student Worker for Your Department

TempForce is here to assist you with onboarding student workers to your department. There is no TempForce service surcharge for VU student workers.

As a hiring manager, you will be responsible for submitting a requisition for approval via Talent Central. You will remain as supervisor, handle department training, set schedules, approve timesheets and pay student salaries.

How to Hire a Student Worker for your Department

  • Hiring Manager: Identify a Vanderbilt University student — a great resource is HireAdore.com.
  • Hiring Manager: Create a new requisition in Talent Central.
    • Select the "Regular/Term/Flex" requisition type.
    • Select Lesley Jones as the recruiter.
    • In the "Additional Information" section: insert compensation rate and student's name.
    • Click here to obtain instructions for creating a new requisition.
  • Hiring Manager: Contact student worker to create profile in Talent Central.
    • VU student workers can apply online to the VUMC Student Worker posted requisition.
  • Use Kronos code: Officer/NP

Tips:

  • When the student's assignment is complete, don't forget to submit ePAC to terminate the student when their assignment is complete.
  • All VU students can access the eTimesheet application directly at https://webapp.mis.vanderbilt.edu/timesheet

 

TempForce Payroll Process

Because everyone deserves to be paid on time, it is important to review temporary employee's time in Kronos for completeness. This will ensure the hours worked and center numbers are correct.

Supervisors are responsible for submitting temporary employee's time following the end of each two-week pay period by 10 a.m. on the following Monday.

Your responsibilities regarding Safety Training and Compliance

All TempForce employees are compliant with the following:

  • Universal Safety Training
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • HIPAA Training
  • Standards of Conduct Review
  • Conflict of Interest Acknowledgement
  • All required new hire paperwork including background check and I-9 documentation
  • Immunizations

Due to the variety of positions filled by TempForce employees, they must be trained in the following areas after they are placed on assignment. If your regular employees are required to complete additional training, then your TempForce employee should also complete the training.

Respirator Fit Testing
All TempForce medical patient care positions require N-95 fit testing prior to providing care to patients on airborne precautions or entering negative pressure rooms. Learn more at https://www.vumc.org/safety/clinical/n95-respirator-program.
